Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial (DOAM) Foundation is a charitable, humanitarian, and non-governmental organization established in 2006, in memory of Master Daniel Ogechi Akujobi (1992-2005) who died from injuries he sustained in a fatal highway accident on his way back to school along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State Nigeria. He was the only son of his parents.
The Foundation is dedicated to the enhancement of the education and health of less-privileged children and youths in the society. Since its establishment six years ago, the Foundation has offered scholarship to a number of vulnerable but intelligent children in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. It has also undertaken various life improving programs including de-worming of children, mentorship, educational, nutritional and psycho-social support to over 8,400 children and youths in the society.It is engaged in the enhancement of primary healthcare centers in rural areas and supports in the building & equipment of Accident & Emergency Response Centers along major highways in the Federation to save the lives of accident and trauma victims.
Currently, the Foundation has renovated and upgraded two primary healthcare Centers in Imo and Ogun States respectively and has built its first Accident & Emergency Centre in the Obafemi-Owode LGA, Ogun State. The DOAMF Accident & Emergency Centre is very close to the site of the unfortunate accident that claimed the life of the late Daniel Ogechi. OUR VISION To improve the quality of life of the less-privileged for a better society.OUR MISSION To support the provision of education and healthcare services to the less privileged children and youths through viable and sustainable programs for a better society.

EDITORS NOTEThe Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial (DOAM) Foundation is thrilled to welcome you to its blog. We are thrilled to share our experiences with you as we strive to make a difference by  providing safety nets for the less privileged children and youth in our midst.

The Foundation in the last five months has made very remarkable progress in touching the lives of over four hundred (400) orphaned and vulnerable children through its leadership program and children’s day celebrations held in the month of May. Other programs and activities have been lined up for the remaining part of the year to meet our target of impacting in the lives of seven thousand children (7,000) to increase our reach from 8,000 to  fifteen thousand (15,000) by the year 2013.

DOAM Foundation  has very remarkable potentials for growth in the social sector. The bed rock of any sustainable and viable NGO is in the provision of adequate care and support for the less privileged in the society.  The Foundation is positioned to provide this frame work through its scholarship and healthcare programs.
We believe that as we open up our world of giving to the less privileged we will inspire you to join in our crusade of touching lives positively.

LEADERSHIP, EDUCATION, ASPIRATION & DEVELOPMENT (L.E.A.D) PROGRAM (May 24, 2013)The Leadership Education Aspiration & Development Program is an annual event that takes the Foundation to public primary and secondary schools in NigeriaThe goal of the L.E.A.D Program is to encourage less privileged children to aspire to become better students and responsible citizens to enable them break the cycle of poverty in their respective homes and communities at large by providing access to quality & affordable education, mentorship programs, nutritional and psychosocial support.

The beneficiary school was Ikoyi Nursery and Primary School, located at Osborne Road Ikoyi, Lagos. The school was founded in 1983 and has a population of 224 pupils in both the nursery and primary section.
The event was held on May 24, 2013. Various educational materials were distributed to the students while all those who performed optimally (1st to 3rd position) in the various arms were rewarded with special gifts.

The Foundation celebrated the children’s day with pupils of Olanike Children’s Centre in Lagos.

The event was held at the the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. Over 300 children benefited from the event as various educational and nutritional items were distributed such as: Chikki arm band, Chikki chips, Vicbol apple drink, Chikki plates, Chikki plastic bags, Biscuits, Pencils , Books to outstanding pupils, Water bottles to Nursery and Primary  1 pupils and Bobo drinks.
The children were very excited and happy to receive their various gifts.
